Sea Me and its sister restaurant, Sea Me Next Door are stalwart seafood eateries in the center of Chiado, and could easily fall victim to “tourist trap” syndrome if it weren’t for its excellent kitchen.
Moreover, they’ve unequivocally seized my attention with the introduction of Tuna Fight Club, an interactive culinary experience in which one giant tuna is brought fresh form the market, butchered in front of a paying audience, and served in a quasi-Omakase menu where four chefs compete for the “best dish of the Dinner” title.
Both Sea Me and Sea Me Next Dor are a real bloodbath love letter to the manual labor that goes into carving these colossal fish, and a reminder that a great chef can make one animal taste like a dozen different things. Perhaps the coolest event in town.
