I dare you to go to Canalha and contain yourself when looking at the menu. Few Portuguese restaurants will make you curse your wallet and order more than your stomach can reasonably handle, but boy is the bill worth the culinary pleasures that await you.
Whether it’s the open-faced shrimp omelette or the smoked rolled pork belly, chef Joao Rodrigues is sourcing all of his produce with the love and attention of a Michelin-star restaurant, but presenting it in a setting that’s social and fun.
The Canalha brings in its webiste heading “the comfort and casualness of a typical neighborhood restaurant”, but that’s certainly burying the lead: This is much more than that; it’s an experience.
