Bonjardim is probably the most TikTokked churrasqueira in Lisbon, and while the competition for “the very best frango assado” is pretty stiff, I would readily accept anyone’s petition that this is their personal favorite.
Yes, the lines here can get pretty long since its Rossio location certainly attracts every single foreigner who has heard whispers of Portuguese chicken, but I also can’t deny that it’s worth the wait. The chicken skin is perfectly crispy, the meat tender and juicy, and the piri piri sauce adds a hint of spice that might come across as surprisingly mild for foreigners, but ensures that the chicken’s flavor speaks for itself.
