For those who know anything about contemporary California cuisine, Prado will feel like a teleportation device to Abbott Kinney. For those new to this expressive, one-dish-at-a-time family-style dining, Prado might be the most beguiling restaurant in Lisbon.
That isn’t to suggest that this is not a Portuguese restaurant. On the contrary, this is an upscale tribute to the traditions of local cuisine. The plant-forward menu is inviting to vegans but boasts a handful of totally unusual meat dishes that surprise at every turn (the rice with caramelized onions, chicken skin, and eel is a must try).
Throw in the fact that this also boasts the single best pork pressa I have ever had in my life and you’d be a fool to write this off as an American restaurant.
