Lisbon has no shortage of elegant restaurants, but it came as quite a surprise to me when Duro opened its doors in Cais do Sodre, revealing its ultra-spacious square footage!
Even some of the city’s most venerated eateries are cramped spaces in retrofitted shotgun homes, which is why Duro stands out as the kind of luxurious white tablecloth experience you’d associate with a London establishment. But Chef Sandro Farinho doesn’t use the highfalutin interior design as a crutch. Instead, Duro serves pitch perfect Portuguese staples and a number of creatively subversive dishes to boot; the tuna carpaccio with quail egg being a notable highlight.
It’s one of Lisbon’s newest upscale eats, and well-worth the cost of admission.
