When I initially began this project, I was hesitant to include anything other than restaurants on this list, but as time went on it became increasingly apparent that I had to make an exception for Chantilly, Lisbon’s best gelateria.
I don’t say that because they have the best ice cream in town (as far as I’m concerned they do), but because Chantilly’s idyllic location, comfortable seating, and extra-creative menu make it the ultimate summer cool-down. Unlike so many of the city’s great gelaterias, this isn’t on a noisy street overrun by tourists: Chantilly is nestled on a quiet side street a stone’s throw from El Corte Ingles and provides just the right type of comfortable outdoor seating to allow for a midLunch sunbath while sipping on a quality milkshake, eating their signature “boozy ice cream”, or even enjoying a live acoustic concert!
It’s a community space, and that’s why it’s the best gelateria in town.
